Week 8: Thing # 20 - YOOOOOOO TUBE!!!!!

I Love this!!!!!...I have my own channel. Nuff Said.

Learning 2.0 Sandbox Wiki - Week # 7: Thing 17

This was great. I enjoyed the experience creating my own page in the MD Sandbox wiki. Looking forward to playing more with my page in the near future.

Week 7: Thing # 16 - Learning About Wiki's

Can you say.......Wikipedia??? I can, because it is one of my favorite resource tools on the internet. Wikis work well for groups that already know each other. In libraries, users are more likely to "edit" than "create", to provide instruction and even tid-bits of info, encouraging people to edit from there. It seems to be very helpful to it’s users, including myself. I never realized that everyone, including libraries are using them. Now I can utilize other resources or maybe even create my own.

Time To Wrap This Thing (23) Up

Where do I go from here???...Well I guess in order to answer that question, I had better go back to the beginning of my journey and re-live the moments and the highlights. I'm thinking.....ummm nice.............yeah that was great too......(still thinking)............hahahahahahhhaha.....yeah those online generated images were the best........(reminiscing).........You Tube, everyone needs to visit that site, it was awesome........(smiling)....oh yeah...Library Thing...that was cool too..........OK.

I guess the reflection period was a little longer than I expected it to be.

To summarize this experience would take forever...so I will keep my flap on a tight leash. Being honest with the whole experience, I must say that I enjoyed learning about the many things there is to do on the Internet...meaningful things that is...but I would be foolish to not say that it was the hands on entertaining things that grabbed my attention the easiest and the fastest. The idea of being creative on the Internet never crossed my mind...I always felt that I had to go out and purchase some overly priced bit of software that would do many of the things that I enjoyed doing during the Maryland 23 Things stint. You had better believe that I will be using the "feeds" and "tagging" in all of my many adventures on the web, making my mark on all the things I like to do and see and share.

I said I was going to copy someone else's summary because I didn't think that I could summarize my experience in a manner that would interest the masses. What I have found in that is, the only person that my life long learning experiences are important to is myself....so with that said...This is GitaKLU signing off for now...but stay tuned, because I plan to take these 23 Things with me in my back pocket. Thanks for reading.

Week 9: # 22 - Overdrive & Net Library

I checked out Overdrive...I think it's really neat that you can just download a book instead of going to a branch or to a book store to get your "read on". This book from Joel Osteen was one that was hard to catch in the library...not sure if my timing just stank or what...but because of the Overdrive site..I can download and keep on reading. I searched for other titles but I was unsuccessful in finding the ones I really wanted. Quick question???...Is there a way to make suggestions on which books they make available on the Overdrive site??... Just asking. :o)

Week 9: # 21 - Locating Podcasts

Podcasting. Now there is an interesting term. I think I first heard the word podcasting about a year ago when I first began to take interest in the Apple iPod. I never actually got an ipod, so thus, my desire to know more about the podcasting element quickly came to naught. This weekend I looked into the different ways to locate podcasts of my interest; those interest including many things outside of library things...but nonetheless...they still involved reading and learning which is a plus. I guess the site that I traveled the most during my "podcastic" journey was through the Yahoo site. I basically typed in a word of interest and flying up came all of these episodes of "podulistic" delicacies....Wow, that was a stretch. So as with all of my findings so far with the MD 23 Things activity, I will be pursuing more information and plenty of "at-home" practice with uploading my own podcasts...because I have plenty to say. Nuff said.

Exploring Web 2.0 Awards list - Week 8: #19

Whoo Hoo!!!!......What a day. This is my last post for the day and it was a winner. I really enjoyed looking at some of the winners for the Web 2.0 activity. My favorite...(or the one that held my attention the longest) was the Cocktail Builder...I wasn't going to click on it...but I am sure glad I did. Cool, cool....and still cool with me.

Vacation time is coming and I will have a new resource in locating drinks that accommodate what I have versus what I need to buy.

ZoHo Writer - Week 8: #18

Hello Blog Friends,

Zoho Writer was really cool...now I can be anywhere and get quick documents done from any kind of computer. Those tech folks at Zoho have come up with a great online product. I can't wait to fiddle around with several of the other applications and tasks. Here is a sample of one on my projects, an un-official memo notice for all library staff just in case you forgot. Holla!!

Web 2.0 Library 2.0 & The Future of Libraries - Week 6: #15

Wow...this whole blogging thing is bigger than I ever could imagine. I never realized how it brings it users all together through the common things that they like and serch for while on the Internet. It's useful human-like qualities and time-saver genius makes future usage of the Internet just like going to the library from the comforts of your own homes or offices. Gee????.....Remember when families used to eat dinner together and have conversations face to face???....Just a thought.

Tagging With Technorati - Week 6: #14

I am excited about going through these top blogging websites. Hopefully my blog can one day be amongst the ranks of the top 10......right??? ;O)

Del.icio.us Social Bookmarking Site - Week 6: #13

I went to the Del.icio.us webite to browse around for a few...to see what it was that I about to experience next with the MD 23 Things. I was able to create bookmarks through keywords that were specific to those things that interest me the most. This was interesting....but my list of interesting things was grossly limited. I guess I have to do more investigating on what I like this week...(it changes every so often). Well I've added the link to my Del.icio.us account...so enjoy. Over and Out!!

My Rollyo Search Tool - Week 5: #12

Rollyo was cool beans!! The most difficult part was compliling the list of websites to check. Then to be able to narrow down the other search topics to what I wanted on my page was very helpful. I really enjoyed this.

Library Thing - Week 5: #11

Library Thing was a very useful tool. I was able to search for a few of my favorite books without going through the hassle of using a website that didn't have everything I needed within. Go library Thing....over and out!!

Flickr Photos - Week 3: #5

This is one of my flickr photos with a 3rd party mashup through the dumpr website.
I had the most difficult time with uploading my flicks to this post....not sure why. I usually use my Ringo account for stuff like this..but I was trying to follow the MD 23 Things instructions. I find Ringo to be a little more user friendly...I may have to investigate what went wrong and get back to you with my findings....okay

MERLIN - Week 4: #9

As I went snooping around on the MERLIN website...I was overwhelmed with tons of bits of information. None of it really grabbed my interests except for the site with the new search engines. I will continue to look for items of interest as the week continues. Wish me luck. Sheesh!!

You Tube Playlist - Week 9: #20

OK!!...So I was a little anxious to use YouTube...sue me.

Who in the world has the time to watch all of the interesting flashbacks and clips from the past on You Tube. Not me.....so I'll be watching them in alphabetical order based on a playlist that I have designed for myself for the next 10 years...lol. :o)

This is a very extrodinary website. I have found clips from all of my favorite tv shows from the 70's and 80's.

RSS Feedback Info - Week 4: #8

Guess wht I learned this week???...I was just introduced to the RSS Fees through the XML website. I found some information to be very useful and I thought I'd share it with you now.

RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and Rich Site Summary. RSS is an XML-based format for content distribution. Webmasters create an RSS file containing headlines and descriptions of specific information. While the majority of RSS feeds currently contain news headlines or breaking information the long term uses of RSS are broad.

RSS is a defined standard based on XML with the specific purpose of delivering updates to web-based content. Using this standard, webmasters provide headlines and fresh content in a succinct manner. Meanwhile, folks use RSS readers and news aggregators to collect and monitor their favorite feeds in one centralized program or location. Content viewed in the RSS reader or news aggregator is place known as an RSS feed.

RSS is becoming increasing popular. The reason is fairly simple. RSS is a free and easy way to promote a site and its content without the need to advertise or create complicated content sharing partnerships. Cool beans right???

Introducing...Just Wanna Danceware Bi Ka'

This is a spin-off of using the flickr website to use my pictures to do something creative. Flickr actually prompted me into doing something a little more creative which is right around my corner. I made this slide show of t-shirt designs that I created for my new clothing line. Thank you flickr for the motivation. Ringo is another website that offers a similar set-up. enjoy the show.

Women of Hip Hop

Why is it that the women who venture out into the hip hop community as an artist are always under the pressure from other artists to be vulgur and promote promiscuity???....Remember when Queen Latifah used to cover her head and promote a feminine image declaring strength and positivity in the hip hop??.....Let's see what some other websites have to say about this subject.

Rewind!! - Week 1: #2

Hello All,

This is going to be the best experience you have ever had on the internet. Welcome to Name That Toon.

Looking back on the directions of this endeavour, I 've realized that reading and understanding is very important. So I went back to the beginning as I was supposed to, to actually read and re-read until I understood what it was exactly that I was supposed to be doing with this blog.

After going through the lifetime learners presentation again, I can agree with the statement that some aspects of learning are hard while some are easy. It is obvious that I like to play. ..hahahha (laughing at myself). The first thing I did was jumped right into the assignments without reading the directions first. The most difficult aspect for me was having the confidence in myself that I am a competent and effective learner.

From this moment on, this will indeed be a new experience for me...as I will attempt to read and understand first, before reading and playing without understanding of the task at hand. Wish me luck.
